THE ONLINE AUDIENCE'S PERCEPTION OF A NIGERIAN NEWSPAPER
ABSTRACT
The primary objective of this study is to investigate the current condition of Nigerian newspapers that are disseminated through the internet, with the intention of determining the discernment and viewpoint of Nigerian readership towards these digital publications. The research will additionally examine the complexities and potentialities of internet-based newspaper dissemination, encompassing the diverse obstacles faced by readers. Moreover, it aims to ascertain the efficacy of the internet as a medium for providing feedback on newspaper articles published online. In a similar vein, the study will endeavour to ascertain whether the advent of the internet has exerted any influence on the metamorphosis of the newspaper industry in Nigeria. The chosen approach for this study shall be a survey methodology, as it aims to quantitatively assess the perception of the audience. The participants for this study shall be deliberately selected from the demographic of individuals who engage with newspapers, whether in digital or traditional formats, within Owerri, the esteemed capital city of Imo State. The forthcoming recommendations, predicated upon the subsequent discoveries derived from this research endeavour, shall be proffered upon the culmination of the study.
